2014 Volkswagen Passat
Its the age that is make the Euro-spec Volkswagen Passat need to be replaced already. But it seems that the replacement is coming late, in 2014. It is reported that the redesigned model will ride on the new MQB platform which will also underpin the next-generation Audi A3 and Volkswagen Golf. This switch will reportedly enable the model to weigh at least 50 kg (110 lbs) less than the current Passat.
As for the engine options is still remain a mystery, but there’s word of a plug-in hybrid variant with approximately 170 PS (125 kW / 168 hp) and an electric-only range of 50 km (31 miles). Additionally, the petrol engines will likely have a start/stop system and the diesels could be outfitted with NOx catalysts to meet Euro6 emission standards. Besides, we can also expect additional standard equipment including an infotainment system and Bluetooth/iPod connectivity to the replacement of the Passat.
